When I left AT&T after 10 years, I received a beautiful plaque from my co-workers with a great quote, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life” I can honestly say that I have felt that way since opening NEW LEAF. Here’s our story…
NEW LEAF Consignment opened its doors on June 4, 1994. Its name was inspired by the 16th century phrase “to turn over a new leaf,” which meant to turn a page in a book or start a new behavior. The new behavior was to be more aware of the Earth’s environment and to recycle new or gently used merchandise. Our mission is to provide a service to our clients by helping them turn over treasures they no longer want or need, to help them de-clutter their closets, and earn extra money all at the same time! Thinking ‘green’ has gained a lot of momentum over the years and the current fashion trend is to shop wisely.
The process is simple. We work by private appointment and price merchandise at 1/4 to 1/3 of its original cost. Merchandise is kept in the client’s name for 60 days and clients receive 45% of the final selling price. Merchandise becomes NEW LEAF’s property after 61 days and is then donated to non-profit charities like Dress for Success, The Independent Thrift Shop, Cause for Paws, and Operation Jersey Shore Santa. Clients can request a donation write off every January for tax purposes.
One of the things that sets NEW LEAF apart from many other consignment shops is our fashion forward merchandise at affordable prices, outstanding customer service, professional fashion consulting services, and most importantly, honest feedback about the way you look when considering a purchase. We have an extremely professional staff and wonderful clients who love our shop. Stop in and let us help you enjoy your retail therapy!
My advice to everyone is to find your passion, go after it, and keep in mind Carl Sandburg’s quote, “Nothing happens unless you first dream.”
